Welcome to Paper Inkspirations!

Hi! My name is Krissy, welcome to my blog. I have been an avid paper-crafter for many years, my addiction started with scrapbooking and has evolved to card-making. It all started when I realized that I had forgotten to buy a card for my nephew's birthday. Looking at my ever-expanding collection of scrapbook supplies, I thought I'd made a card for him. Since then, I've been hooked on card-making and my scrapbooks have been collecting dust. Someday I'll get back to them... I am a SAHM with two beautiful boys and a wonderful & supportive husband. When I'm not spending time with my family or making cards, I enjoy serving on the Preschool Board or Directors and being active in our church. Life is good! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy your visit.

Take time to get inky today....

Daisy Thanks

I thought I'd try something different when I made this card.  Instead of coloring the flowers, I first masked off  the sides of the panel and applied Distress Ink in Dusty Concord with a sponge applicator.  It was fun!  Then I stamped this great Daisy Thanks bouquet and sentiment with Tsukineko Tuxedo Black ink.  All the supplies used to make this card are available at Michaels.

It was a quick and easy card to make.  I'm thinking it would make a great card set - each with a different color Distress Ink.  I may have just decided what to make for my boys to give their teachers next week on the last day of school!

Before I leave, I have to tell you to stop by again next week.  The gals at Stampendous are teaming up with Staedtler.  You don't want to miss the excitement!  We'll have great projects to share with you all week and then there's a Blog Hop on Friday with some fantastic prizes!

Ok, time for me to boogie.  Hope you're having a great week!

Happy Couple

Good Morning! (or afternoon or evening, depending on when you are reading this, I guess.)  It's a beautiful, sunny day here in the Chicago area - I'm hoping to get outside for a bit before I go to work this afternoon.  Hate to waste a gorgeous day!

Today it so beautiful it would be perfect for a wedding, so I thought I'd share a wedding card with you today.

All the supplies used to make this card are available at Michaels.  It features the Stampendous Happy CoupleMr. & Mrs. and Heart Stack.  I had a fun time making the background paper and experimenting with different PearLustre Embossing Powders.  I finally settled on White PearLustre, believe it or not.  It certainly doesn't look white on this pink paper.  Which just goes to prove that you should experiment because you just never know what you'll end up with. (Plus, the experimenting is the FUN part!)  I also used a VersaMarker and added a bit of White PearLustre Embossing Powder  to the veil and bottom of the wedding gown.

Well friends, it's time for me to head outside and enjoy this gorgeous day.  Don't forget to stop by here on the 10th (just TWO days away!!!)  I'll be celebrating the new Stampendous release at Michaels stores by giving away a great prize package to one lucky winner.  Stop back here on Friday for details!

Hope all is well in your corner of the world and that you'll take time to get inky today!

Cowlik Butterfly Hi!

It's May already!?!?!?  Where does the time go?  Just a few more weeks of school at the Preschool where I work and then my boys are done on the 31st.  This year has flown by!

Speaking of time flying, it's almost time for the new Stampendous products to hit the shelves at Michaels stores.  May 10th is the big day!  To celebrate the big release, I'll have blog candy to give away to one lucky winner that day - be sure to stop back here then!

Today I'm sharing a card that uses a stamp that you can find on the shelves today!  The "udderly" adorable Cowlik Butterfly.  I LOVE this stamp!   It makes me smile every time I get it inky!  I thought this Martha Stewart Picket Fence Edge Punch was perfect for my sentiment panel.  I love the way this card turned out and will be making a few more of these for my card stash.

All products used to make this card are available at Michaels.

Time for me to get "moo-ving".  Hope you have a wonderful day and take time to get inky today!

Today I'm sharing a card I made using the absolutely adorable Mermaid Kiddo stamp.  How stinkin' cute is she????  I colored her using my Prismacolor Pencils and added some Stampendous embossing powders in Aged Silver and Blue Tinsel.  I love the way the embossing powders look like bubbles when they melt!  All the supplies used to make this card are available at Michaels.

The Kiddos are all so much fun to color and play with - you *have* to check them out!

Project Life

When I first started with paper crafting, I was a scrapbooker.  I LOVED scrapbooking.  I went to crops once a month, I went to my consultant's home for private scrap time, I brought my supplies to work with me and scrapped during my lunch hour.  And then I forgot to buy a birthday card for my nephew's 2nd birthday.  I figured I could make him a birthday card with all of my scrapbooking supplies.  Well, that's about the time my scrapbook days ended.  I discovered that I LOVED making cards!  Since then, my scrapbooks have been collecting dust.  I'm hoping to blow the dust off and start working on them again this summer.

I have to admit I was a bit intimidated and overwhelmed at the thought of making a scrapbook page after all these years.  I think I'm really late jumping on the Project Life bandwagon.  I see blog posts everywhere that talk about Project Life, but something about all of those little pockets always seemed overwhelming to me.  Well, today it was time to step out of my comfort zone.  And guess what?  I had fun!!!

I discovered that the problem was finding pictures to scrap.  It seems that when I stopped scrapbooking, I also stopped printing my photos.  I have them all saved on Shutterfly, but I haven't had any printed in years.  I think it's time to finally drop the cold, hard cash and just do it.

The pictures I did find were from Christmas 2011.  We took these pictures before we headed to church for the Christmas Pageant.  TJ, our oldest, was so excited to be wearing his new Christmas tie and could hardly wait to get to church to start singing.

I cut green card stock into 6"x6" squares and stamped the Stampendous Christmas Background on each panel with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  Then I embellished each panel differently using Detail Gold Embossing Powder and the  Fran•táge Mica Kit.  Here's a closer look at each individual panel...

Can you tell TJ is just a *little* excited?

Me and the love of my life.

My sweet boys.

LOVE these Mica flakes!

Such handsome guys!

Love the way the clear embossing makes the background "pop".

Well!  That was all a mouthful!  If you're still here with me, thank you for hanging in there!  Before you leave, I have to remind you to check out the Project Life posts that my teammates have for you today.

ALSO....be sure to stop back soon.  I'll have lots of new stuff to show you!  All of the new Stampendous products will be making their appearance at Michaels on May 1st and I can't wait to share it all with you!  I think I'll even have a giveaway on May 1st to celebrate.  I've got quite a stash of great Stampendous stuff to share with one lucky person!  You won't want to miss this!  Stay tuned!

OK...I think I'm done now!  *PHEW*

I hope all is well in your corner of the world and that you will take time to get inky today!

TLC Blessing

I have a slight addiction.  I admit it.  However, I don't think there's a 12-step program for it.  I'll just have to tough it out, I'm afraid.  I'm addicted to the parchment-look paper in the Spice Market Card Stock collection by Recollections (available at Michaels).  I find myself reaching for this paper ALL THE TIME.  I have actually had to stop myself from using it on more than one occasion.  But, it's just so pretty and goes with so much!  So there you have it....admitting is the first step, right???

Anyway, of course I used that card stock on this card as the card base and the panel that I stamped on.  I love this stamp by Stampendous.  It's available at Michaels and is called TLC Blessing.  I embossed it using Stampendous embossing powders.  The patterned paper is from the Latte Mat Stack by DCWV.  The paper in this stack has a fun texture to it and all the colors are really pretty.

The great thing about this card is that all of the supplies used to make it are available at Michaels.  For more details on this card, check out the directions and supply list on the Michaels website.

Well friends, that's it for me today.  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day and take time to get inky today.
